Swatches | Metallic Pomegranate Color Tattoo

A couple of weeks ago, I showed you that I'd bought my very first Maybelline Color Tattoo while I was in France with Ellenore and Lilly. I picked up the shade Metallic Pomegranate which is not available in Belgium. It's a bordeaux colour with golden shimmer running through it.

As you've probably already seen in previous posts, I'm extremely fair-skinned. This means that the product takes on a different appearance on my skin than it might on someone else's skin. This also means that I'm not entirely sure if it's the right fit for me... I guess I'll just have to experiment with it a little more.

Again Action Max Eyeliner pencils: swatches

Hi lovelies,

this week the blog has been taken over by Lilly pretty much :) and also by Action. That's maybe because it's summer and our budgets are running especially low. Coming in the holiday jobs to get the funds up. Lilly and I have been at it for 2 weeks and for me (and I think for Lilly too) it have been very exhausting ones with the high temps of 39 degrees Celsius in the shade!

I still have a small stock of pics and this post I promised when I posted the haul.
Swatches!!!

First up a reminder what it was all about:

Action prices part 2

Hi everyone,

Last time I showed you the mini nail polish bottles from Max that I bought at the Action store. Well, I bought more then just that package. They were only €0,79 so who can blame me, right?

Summer colours, action prices!

Hi everyone,

When I was looking for empty nail polish bottles to start Frankening, I stumbled upon these cuties.
They are mini nail polish bottles from the brand Max and believe it or not, I bought these for only €0,79 at Action. Yes, that's correct. €0,79 for a package of 3 mini bottles of 3,6ml. They come in different colours and they even have some with nail caviar :-P.

Nail Art | Pacific Rim

These last few weeks have been hot, hot , hot so it might seem a little strange that I went to the cinema when the weather was so warm. But in my defense, the Pacific Rim trailer looked visually stunning and I'd heard so many people gush about it, so I just had to see it.

I was not disappointed. The trailer makes it seem very Transformer-ish, but it's not. It's still a summer blockbuster of course, but the fights are visually organised and easy to read and there's more emotional depth to the characters than is typical for summer blockbusters. I can really recommend it if you're into sci-fi/action movies.

Action haul

A couple of weeks ago I went to Action and picked up a few bits and bobs. I know we are a bit Action crazy but it's such a good shop for budget make up!

a quick overview after the jump. Swatches/ more elaborate reviews will follow in an upcoming post.

Feeling Magnetic

Hi everyone,

A while ago, Laure gave me 2 bottles of magnetic nail polish and a magnet from Essence (Thank you Laure :-) ). They didn't really work for her and I once said that I'd like to try it, so she just gave them to me.

So I got a blue magnetic nail polish called "06 Spell Bound!" and a more pinkish one called "03 Magic Wand". The magnet is one that creates straight stripes. (Read more to see the swatches!)

Belgian National Day Nail Art!

Hi everyone,

As Laure has mentioned, today is Belgian National Day and King Philip’s accession. So I thought I’d do some nail art. Off course, I used the colours of the Belgian flag ;-).

Swatches | Have You Seen Alice?, Charly's Chocolate Factory & Mr.Copper's Fields

July is the month of sales and boy, is my wallet feeling it!

Catrice has started the sales on their discontinued products so I picked up three eyeshadows: Have You Seen Alice?, Charly's Chocolate Factory and Mr.Copper's Fields
Have You Seen Alice? and Charly's Chocolate Factory are Intensif' Wet & Dry shadows, which means you can use them dry, but also wet if you want more intensity. Mr.Copper's Fields is just a regular eyeshadow. I also bought some GOSH pigments (for € 0.50 each!), but I'll be reviewing those an other time... Consider this a sneak peek. ;)

Personal | New King of Belgium & Summer Weather

Today is a big day in Belgium. Not only is the 21st of July our national holiday, but by the end of the day, we'll also have a new king. On 3 July, our King, King Albert II, anounced that he had decided to abdicate in favour of his eldest son, Prince Philippe, who will be crowned today.
2013 seems to be a year of change for the monarchies in Western Europe. First the Netherlands and now Belgium!

King Albert II was on the throne for 20 years, so he's been king for as long as I can remember. It'll be quite a change, seeing as the personalities of King Albert and Prince Phillippe are pretty different but we'll see how it goes...

Any way, I hope the nice weather we've had for the past few days persists. We're finally having a nice, warm summer. I've really enjoyed sitting in the garden with the dogs and a nice cool drink.

Long awaited: Gold polish collection part 1

Hi lovelies,

I know I promised this post a long time ago but lots of things have come between it each time. Like buying more gold polish, exams, lost camera's... (well only one lost camera, but you get the spirit).

Prepare yourself for a massive amount of pictures after the jump!!

Swatches | Step Red Up, The World's Grapest & Get The Nudes Paper

A (long) while ago, I showed you a preview of some Catrice lipsticks I'd bought and promised you to get swatches up on the blog as soon as possible. I encountered quite some trouble, because no matter how much I tried, my camera just wouldn't pick up the right colours. But because Catrice is changing the permanent collection and Step Red Up is being tossed, I felt I had to put up the (edited) swatches so you can decide whether you want to buy it on sale...

I edited the photos of the swatches to make it more colour correct.

Nail Art | 90s Birthday Bash

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELLENORE!

So I told you in my previous post that I was going to Ellenore's birthday party. She held it with a friend and the theme was 90s (our childhood), so of course I needed a fitting manicure. I scoured the internet for some inspiration and found a manicure I could base my nail art on.

As you can see, I took a picture of my right hand so I did the nail art with my left hand. It wasn't easy because I'm dexterous, but it ended up working so I'm gonna try more complicated designs with my left hand in hopes of becoming better at it.

You can see some damage and tipwear because I took this picture the day after the party.

I used:

  • basecoat + topcoat
  • Essence: Black Is Back
  • Essence: You Belong To Me
  • Catrice: Meet Me At Coral Island
  • Berangé: Yellow
  • Essence: White Tip Painter
The party ended up being a lot of fun, as I'd predicted. ;) Ellenore, Lilly and the other birthday girl had a bake-off in preparation of the festivities, so yummy food galore! There was so much that we were able to have dessert for breakfast the next morning! That just screams successful party to me. :)

Lots of ♥,
Laure

Shoplog | Lush Tins

Hi sweeties,

Today I went into the city to buy some presents for Ellenora's birthday bash tomorrow and (as always) I also  entered the Lush store. I have so little self-control... I can't help it! If a shop sells soap, I have to at least take a look inside and Lush is like my soap Mecca. It's an urge that won't be stopped... ;)

This time I didn't go (completely) over board and I limited my purchases to three tins to hold some of my Lush products. I got a Shampoo Bar tin, a Massage Bar tin and a Body Butter tin.

The Shampoo Bar tin is the round one, holding Trichomania (solid shampoo), the square tin is the Body Butter tin (with Karma soap) and in the oval Massage Bar tin is the Each Peach massage bar.

I'll probably do a review on the Lush products I have, but I might put those up on the new separate blog we plan on launching soon. But that's still in the works so no spoilers. ;)

Lots of ♥,
Laure

Swatches | Berangé Yellow

Hi sweeties,

As Ellenora has already mentioned, we went shopping on saturday and I bought some beauty items I thought I'd show you.

Swatches behind the jump.

My first try at stamping!

Last nightI decided I’d try my Hollywood Nail Kit and stamp my nails for the first time. (I had wanted to try this eversince Laure posted “Mistleto(e)gether”).

This device refused to work properly, the rubber kept falling out and the springs that are part of the “printing” piece kept getting stuck which made stamping almost impossible. So I decided that I’d go the old fashioned way and just use the template and the rubber.

I’ll probably make a tutorial for this device (or a video of how it all falls apart) and show you how I work. For now, I only have a picture of the result (sorry for the bad photo quality, I didn't have my good camera close by).

My dad tookthis picture in our garden, so this is natural light on a clouded grey day ;-)

I used theswirly lines from the HN05-A template. Pretty neat for a first time right J? I’ll try more of this in thefuture.

The basecoat is 02 Shopping @ Portobello road from the Essence Vintage District LE andI used 7 Pearl Silver from Kleancolor for stamping. Pearl Silver is very easyto work with. I didn’t have to work extremely fast, it didn’t completely dry onthe rubber, but it dried fast enough. Yep, Pearl Silver will be used again inthe future for stamping purposes ;-).

I'll try to post more stamping try outs when I stamp my nails again ;-).

Berange mini manicure

Hi lovelies,

Today I have a quick mani for you guys. This didn't start out as a mani, but as a quick swatch session that kind of pleased me so I decided to stick with it.
