Nail Art | Christmas Sweater

Happy Holidays!

In the spirit of the holiday season, I did some Christmas nail art. Seeing as I like freehanding nail art (and I need all the practice I can get in that particular department), I figured I'd freehand a Christmas sweater nail art.

Whovember | Clara

Hi lovelies

The last installment of companion week and the newest addition to the family: Clara! Another companion I wasn't to keen on when she was shown to the press but she blew me away in that first ep: Asylum of the Daleks! I loved the Oswin character and was really curious as how she was going to be a companion after that.

Action | 3 new polishes

Hi lovelies,

To give you guys a break from the Doctor Who mania that's going on, here are some polishes you can actually go and buy for, wait for it.... a whopping 49 cents at Action.

Whovember | Rory

Hi lovelies,

Today is Rory day! Only 14 days to go! My facebook and tumblr are almost exploding with Doctor Who goodness. But I guess this is peanuts compared to what it will be like when the party really kicks of on the 23th.

Swatches | All Purples Eve

Like mentioned a few posts ago, Lilly made a franken polish for Ellenore and me. A franken nail polish is a nail polish you (or in this case, a friend) made, using a variety of ingredients.

The one Lilly made for Ellenore and herself is a dark blue nail polish with shimmers, named River and The Tardis. The personalised polish Lilly made me, is a dusty purple with faint, subtle shimmer, with the adorable name All Purples Eve.

Because my nails kept breaking, I held off swatching All Purples Eve to ensure that my nails were a little longer. I was going to let my nails grow still a little longer, but I couldn't wait any more, so here are the swatches!

DIY Cat tent

Hi everyone,

Last Sunday I wanted to do something crafty. It was already after 9:00 PM so there wasn't much time left to do something. Earlier that day, I found several tutorials of how to build a cat tent with an old T-shirt (Just google "diy cat tent" and you'll find it). Considering I have 3 cats, I wanted to make 3 tents.

What you need is an old T-shirt, pliers, tape, elastic bands, 2 metal hangers and some cardboard for underneath and to secure the metal wires.

Military Green

Hi everyone,

This time I'm posting a green Kleancolor polish.

Even though I bought this one about half a year ago along with my yellow, blue and purple Kleancolor polishes. I'm posting it now because I think it's a more dark colour suited for fall and winter.

105 Military Green by Kleancolor

I'm not superpsyched about the colour, I believe it's a tad too dark, but I'm very happy with the formula. This polish only needs one (thicker) coat to be completely opaque. Some of you may already know how I love it when you only need one coat. I'm always impatient when putting on nail polish, I never wait long enough between 2 coats, which sometimes gives me disastrous results. It dries quite nicely, with a lovely shine to it. It also doesn't take long to dry and harden.

Not sure whether I'll wear this polish often, but who knows what winter will bring, right?

Saturday, 12 October 2013

Hi everyone,

Today I'm posting some pictures I took last month. I was wearing a dress with a somewhat 70's print and I wanted matching nails. So I searched through my nail polishes and found that two of the Max bottles from Action were the closest polishes I own to match the colours of my dress.

Funky Glitter

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, in September, when I was out shopping with Ellenora, I saw that Kruidvat had the Essence Limited Edition "Be Loud!". I managed to keep my no buy promise to myself in August, so I believe I deserved a new glitter polish.

Base coat: Studio Nails Pro White Nail Hardener by Essence
Mint colour: 01 Dive with me to the Island (Ticket to Paradise LE) by Essence
Glitter: 01 Not Punky nor Funky (Be Loud! LE) by Essence
Top coat: Studio Nails Ultra Gloss Nail Shine by Essence

100th post | high end blog announcement

Hi Lovelies

It's our 100th post! Exactly 1 year after our first post! And to celebrate that something we have been talking about for weeks, but now it's finally happening! Our new blog is live!

As we have mentioned before, we started buying more expensive products and didn't think they had a home on here. The main goal of this blog is beauty on a budget and a polish that retails for 15 euros or a 40 euro palette does not fit that bill.

The reason for moving on to more expensive brands have been many and varied and probably different for each of us. One of the main ones however is that our favourite budget brands have been letting us down lately and that they just are becoming less budget. Catrice and Essence have up-ed their price and the gap with the other drugstore brands is becoming smaller.

For obvious reasons, we decided on a different name for our new blog. 3 Girls on a bigger budget didn't really cover the purpose of our new blog, so we had to brainstorm a little. We decided on Peanut+Monkey. For those of you who are curious about our new blog, you can go and take a peek on .

But no worries, Three Girls On A Budget is not dead. We still love a good bargain and why buy expensive when cheap is just as good? We just wanted a home for our more expensive buys. Not that we are going to go full out on YSL, OPI, Urban Decay and the likes. We have our little ways in getting stuff on the cheap or at least with a few euros discount. That's some stuff we're also going to be sharing on there.

We've had fun the past year. And we would like to thank our lovely subscribers and followers. You are not many but thank you!

We have some nice posts planned for the coming months. We also have something special planned for late October- November. Seeing as we have already showed our geek colours you might guess what it will have to do with, but for now that's all we will be saying about that.
For October expect Hema swatches, Essence swatches, Rimmel swatches and more Edinburgh!

Thank you for reading. We hope you stick with us for an other year and 100 more posts!

Lots of Love
Your 3 Girls

Press | Illamasqua's Halloween

Halloween is on our doorstep and Illamasqua is more than aware.

Not only is Illamasqua releasing a new nail varnish, called Swarm, and a new set of lashes, they've also combined them in a duo set.

In their webshop you can also buy the UV glow nail varnishes in a set. You can save more than half (!) the orginal price.

If you're looking for inspiration for halloween make-up, Illamasqua has put some face charts on their website as a little treat.

Lots of ♥,

Personal | Edinburgh: Royal McGreggor

Hey lovelies,

Prepare for a long post because there's a lot to say about this one!

This post might be something different then what you are used to from us. I like to believe we give our honest opinion on everything we post here. We're never sponsored or get things sent to us. Every product on here is bought with our own money or given as a gift by family or friends.
A quick read trough our (almost 100!) posts kind of showed me that we are never overly enthusiastic about a product. We love a fair few but there are very few that we can't stop talking about and that we would instead of kindly recommend to you, practically force you to buy (honestly if a product was that good we wouldn't really. Just manner of speaking).

So a bit of a different post then because this thing has stolen our heart and we have nothing but love for it!

My very first franken attempt (finally)

Hi everyone,

So I've finally found some spare time to post this. I did this somewhere in July, but was a bit busy lately.

So, I followed the advice from dr. Frankenpolish ( There you can find everything you need to know about frankening, so I won't repeat all the steps here.

These are some of the supplies I gathered to start my first try at frankening. But as I was working, I walked around the house to collect more polishes and stuff. I wanted to create a gift for my two fellow blogger girls, and one for myself off course!

Hi lovelies,

These pictures have been lying about for a while. They were taken in the first nice weather of this year so that must be around May.

Swatches | GOSH Blue Diamond, Greeny & Bluebell Pigments

Quite a while ago, I bought these pigments. Normally I don't really buy GOSH products because the brand's a little out of my price range. But they were on sale because they are no longer going to be sold in Kruitvat, so I figured I'd give them a go. Ellenore might also write a review about this in the future, seeing as she also bought three and snagged some lovely neutral colours. (Still a little jealous about that... ;D)

Swatches | Max Lipsticks Cranberry & Rose Red

A while back I went with my parents to Action and of course I had a look at the make-up section. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but my dad convinced me to buy a two-pack of lipstick. (Totally out of character for my dad! He tries to show an interest for me, but he really doesn't care about make-up.) They had several shades, but there was only one two-pack that spoke to me (and my dad): the one with Cranberry and Rose Red.

Today I got around to photographing and swatching them. Voilà!

Personal | Blog about Prague: Day 4

We've arrived at the final day in Prague. On the last day we didn't do much. We just walked around on the Wenceslas Square and checked out some of the shops there. Sadly, it wasn't very interesting...

We did however discover this gem. While walking past a book shop, I took a look at the window display and noticed something. All the female authors had -ová added to their name, so Rowling became Rowlingová, Meyer became Meyerová, Roberts became Robertsová, etc... The names of the male authors remained the same though.

Personal | Blog about Prague: Day 3

On the third day, we decided to go to the Spanish Synagogue, the Jewish Cemetary and the Dancing House.

We couldn't find a way in, so we figured you couldn't visit the inside... Thus, we only have a picture of the outside. We ended up going to the Jewish Cemetary (I love cemetaries), but it was overflowing with people and Céline doesn't like cemetaries so we didn't go inside. We just walked around it.

Personal | Blog about Prague: Day 2

Sorry that it took so long to get this up. As you probably saw in the previous post by Ellenore, the three of us went on a city trip to Edinburgh which took some planning, hence the delay. But I'm back and I'll try to get the exploits in Prague on the blog. ;)

On the second day, we went to Malá Strana, which is across the river from where we were staying. Prague is divided in two parts by the Vltava river. Malá Strana is the smaller part.

Update: Edinburgh and what to come!

Hi lovelies,

we've been ever so quiet over the last week and a half. That's because we were preparing to go to Edinburgh on a short city trip and the past five days that's where we were. We had a ball and I don't know about the other girls but I was sad to go and I already miss that wonderful city that I fell in love with.

We did do some damage, I more than Laure and Lilly. We also filmed our first ever shop logs and actually made vlogs that will make it to the internet. A bit disappointingly maybe but these might not be uploaded here but on our new channel that will focus around more expensive brands and how to get them on a budget as some of the products were not within our normal low budget price class. (Don't worry we didn't spent out of character either) I know that in my haul are some great budget buys and I'm currently test driving and I will be reviewing them here.

We had a lovely time and we will talk some more about our experience in the city in the coming week or so. You can also expect to hear more from Laure about her trip to Prague soon.

Some quick (not telling) pictures from our trip:

Lilly - me - Laure
I might not look like a happy bunny but trust me I was really excited to be going to Edinburgh! This was the picture that came out the best in our first attempt at a selfie...

Some tired smiling going on on the way back...

Lots of Love

Personal | Blog about Prague: Day 1

You might have noticed a bit of a lull in activity after last month's post marathon. ;) One of the reasons for this is that I went on a city trip to Prague with my friend Céline. It was all pretty rushed. We only decided where to go about 3 to 2 weeks before the actual trip and then everything had to be planned, so it's been busy, busy, busy!

We had to get up really early to catch our train to the airport. When we got to the station and boarded the (wrong) train, we found out we could've slept an extra hour! The train we had boarded left for the airport 5 minutes earlier than the one we had planned to take. Instead of taking 2 hours to get to the airport (like the other one), it only took 70 minutes. If we had taken the train an hour later, we still would've gotten at the airport on time. We felt kinda silly at the time, but it's quite funny looking back. It could've been much worse after all...

On our flight to Prague we had excellent service. We even got chocolate! Céline is expressing our feelings towards chocolate: we ♥ it!

Nail Art | I Sea Polkadots

Before I went on a citytrip to Prague (more on that soon), I painted my nails with I Sea You from Catrice.

I bought this nail polish last summer while I was in Palma (Mallorca). I went into a tiny Essence store and hit the jackpot! They had loads of polishes from different drugstore brands (Catrice, Essence, Sinful Colors,...) in a lot of shades that had been discontinued and are impossible to find elsewhere.

Basically it was HTF polish heaven! Because I was with my family, I limited my purchases and got 2 Catrice creme polishes (I Sea You and Up In The Air) and 2 top coats. The top coats ended up being a pretty bad purchase, but I still love my cremes. :)

Attempt 1: Galaxy nails

Hi lovelies,

this weekend I had 2 days of and I went for a mani again. As explained I can't do my nails for work and as I work almost every day, all day I can't even sneak in a quick mani. I have been a Doctor Who fan for many years in many degrees but the last couple of years I think I might have graduated to whovian level. To get trough the summer months of no Who there is of course Comic Con. And as Belgium is no where near San Diego (no mater how you hold, fold or trear a map) we had to do by bloglovin almost all Doctor Who blogs and vigorously checking tumblr between shifts to enjoy a bit of the geeky fest. As per every year the cast and crew were lovely in every interview I have so far watched and it made me miss Who just that bit more.

Swatches | Metallic Pomegranate Color Tattoo

A couple of weeks ago, I showed you that I'd bought my very first Maybelline Color Tattoo while I was in France with Ellenore and Lilly. I picked up the shade Metallic Pomegranate which is not available in Belgium. It's a bordeaux colour with golden shimmer running through it.

As you've probably already seen in previous posts, I'm extremely fair-skinned. This means that the product takes on a different appearance on my skin than it might on someone else's skin. This also means that I'm not entirely sure if it's the right fit for me... I guess I'll just have to experiment with it a little more.

Again Action Max Eyeliner pencils: swatches

Hi lovelies,

this week the blog has been taken over by Lilly pretty much :) and also by Action. That's maybe because it's summer and our budgets are running especially low. Coming in the holiday jobs to get the funds up. Lilly and I have been at it for 2 weeks and for me (and I think for Lilly too) it have been very exhausting ones with the high temps of 39 degrees Celsius in the shade!

I still have a small stock of pics and this post I promised when I posted the haul.

First up a reminder what it was all about:

Action prices part 2

Hi everyone,

Last time I showed you the mini nail polish bottles from Max that I bought at the Action store. Well, I bought more then just that package. They were only €0,79 so who can blame me, right?
